SMA JAZZ CONCERT SERIES VOL. XXXII presents the Marcos Varela Trio.

 

New York-based bassist and composer Marcos Varela is a rising star on the international jazz scene, celebrated for his powerful tone, musical sensitivity, and genre-bridging artistry. His acclaimed debut album, San Ygnacio, earned recognition from NPR and DownBeat, and his talents have been honored with fellowships from Creative Capital and Jazz Road. Praised by bass icon Ron Carter as a "top notch" and "truly unique musician," Varela is a deeply expressive player and adventurous composer.

 

  For his Mexican tour, Varela teams up with pianist Papacho Sirdey and drummer Victor Monterrubio, promising a unique encounter and a vibrant blend of styles. Cine Bacco provides the perfect intimate setting for this spontaneous and expressive jazz journey.
